Wednesday 17th June 2026, 9am - 5pm, UCLH, London
CAP has been keen to run this course for a number of years and we thought just ahead of the ACTACC Annual Scientific Meeting in London in June 2026 would be the perfect time. The course is endorsed by ACTACC and is a perfect companion course for any resident doctors looking to also attend the ASM.
The course will be a fantastic opportunity to learn something new, find out about careers in cardiothoracics and meet some friendly faces ahead of the ACTACC ASM, taking place in London 18-19th June 2026.
Our friendly and approachable faculty of consultants and senior fellows will guide you through practical workshops allowing you to make the most of your cardiothoracic training rotations:
PA Catheters
Double lumen tubes
Pacing and cardioversions
TOE simulation
Expert tutorials will give you insight and knowledge into the perioperative management of cardiac surgical patients:
Cardiac inductions
Inotropes and vasopressors
Cardiac surgery - an overview
Preoperative assessment and perioperative management of cardiothoracic surgical patients
We will also cover careers in cardiothoracic anaesthesia - why it's a great career choice and how to get your foot on the ladder.

Wednesday 8th July 2026
CAP+ ACTTI hosted this oversubscribed event in 2025 and we had so many people on the waiting list we pledged to hold it again this year... so here it is:
CAP+ACTTI Acute Heart Failure, MCS & Transplant Study Day 2026
Our morning programme will follow a theoretical acute heart failure patient through their journey from diagnosis and initial management through to transplant!
The afternoon offers the opportunity for hands on workshops in ECMO, PA Catheters and echo as well as small group case based discussions with our expert faculty.
The course is aimed at all members of the multidisciplinary team who may be involved or interested in acute heart failure and transplant pathways, and we welcome those for all hospitals; general and tertiary cardiac and transplant centres.
Our delegates last year included ICU and transplant nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, surgeons, physicians, intensivists and anaesthetists from across the UK - if you are reading this then our course is for you!
The course takes place at the Sherman Education Centre, Guy's Hospital London
