Piezofest 2022 was Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia Partnership's inaugural programme of high quality practical workshops focusing on cardiothoracic perioperative ultrasound and echocardiography.
Piezofest was held from Monday 26th September to Friday 30th September 2022 at St Bartholomew's Hospital and Guy's Campus, King's College London.
With expert faculty from across the UK we delivered six premium workshops (and one educational meeting):
ST7 Anaesthetist, Harefieldd Hospital
Anders Hulme is in his final year of training in Anaesthesia in North Central London. His primary clinical interest is in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and is a co-founder of the Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia Partnership. He has interests in major surgery, airway and interventional radiology. His non-clinical interests include education, human factors and green anaesthesia. Outside of work, Anders is a keen runner and cyclist, a very amateur woodworker and a loving but antagonistic dad to Lena (aged 2 1/2).

Dr Jonathan Aron is a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine (ICM). He has had extensive experience in all areas of ICM practice, including acute emergencies and peri-operative care. He specialises in cardiac intensive care and has a particular interest in cardiogenic shock management, related to surgery, intervention or acute illness. Dr Aron also specialises in medical education. After undertaking training in simulation and education delivery, he teaches safety, communication and decision-making in challenging circumstances, to varied clinical learners. He has created and runs several international, national and local courses covering a variety of clinical topics. He is responsible for, and supervises, training for Doctors learning intensive care medicine. Dr Aron holds an advanced qualification in critical care echocardiography and uses this to optimise his patient's treatment. He is a member of the Focused Ultrasound in Intensive Care (FUSIC) committee that sets the standards for training in this area in the UK and a sub-committee member of the European Diploma in Advanced Critical Care Echocardiography (EDEC) group, the European equivalent. He is a supervisor for doctors learning advanced qualifications in this field. He is medical director of a society that trains critical care ultrasound and runs several, highly acclaimed international courses a year. He has been involved in research and has published articles in this area. His other clinical areas of interest include advanced haemodynamic monitoring, advanced ventilation techniques and medical equipment.
