FUSIC HD
FUSIC (Focused Ultrasound for Intensive Care) is a practical solution to training in focused Hemodynamics (HD) ultrasound for adult intensive care.
Our expert faculty will take you through the following transthoracic echo views, with a chance to practice scanning on live models:
- Parasternal long axis (PLAX)
- Right ventricular inflow (RVI)
- Right ventricular outflow (RVO)
- Parasternal short axis (PSAX) views (apex, mid, base, aortic valve levels)
- Apical 4 chamber (A4C)
- Apical two-chamber (A2C)
- Apical three-chamber (A3C)
- Subcostal long axis (SC)
- Subcostal short-axis (SSAX)
- Aortic views - Suprasternal (SS), modified PLAX, modified SAX, modified A2C, abdominal aorta (AA)
- Hepatic veins and portal veins
- Renal interlobar vessels
Interpretation of your echo images will allow you to answer the following questions and help guide haemodynamic management of your patients:
- Is stroke volume abnormal?
- Is stroke volume responsive to fluid, vasopressors or inotropes?
- Is the aorta abnormal?
- Is the aortic valve, mitral valve or tricuspid valve severely abnormal?
- Is there systolic anterior motion of the mitral valve?
- Is there a regional wall motion abnormality?
- Are there features of raised left atrial pressure?
- Are there features of raised pulmonary artery pressure?
- Are there features of tamponade?
- Is there venous congestion?
Pre-course material will enable delegates to maximise their hands-on scanning sessions, with 4 small group workshops:
- FUSIC HD views
- Pressure and volume measurements
- Valvular assessment
- Aorta, pericardium and venous congestion
There will be opportunity to use the HeartWorks TTE simulator to consolidate your learning and match TTE images with real time 3D anatomy.
